Our  club was formed in 1892  by twelve women who met regularly in their homes.  Originally named the Woman’s Colombian Club changed their name to Batavia Woman’s Club (BWC) in 1895  when they became members of the Illinois Greater Federation of Women’s Club’s.   In 1946  the club became members of the  international organization of GFWC. 2012 heralds our 120th Anniversary!

Today, our membership expands over the Fox Valley, not just Batavia.  BWC is a non-profit 501C3 volunteer organization serving the community.  The clubs objectives are to promote educational, environmental, home life, and philanthropic interests of the community with an emphasis on the welfare of women and children.  Through volunteer activities the club dedicates it efforts toward community improvements; helping those in need; promoting cultural, intellectual and social activities; and help prepare our members for new challenges.
